Anonymous asked: So Ive been thinking of doing NSFW art and building up my own blog here for a a year now, but I never end up doing it out of fear that my style will be recognized by friends or that if I end up doing projects in the future that random folks will find it and link it back to me as well. Typing this out has made me realize that this is more irrational than I thought, but do you ever feel like you cant expand your horizons because of the stigma against NSFW art/artists in a professional environment?
I don’t think doing NSFW art hinders your capacity to expand your horizons what so ever
I mean Bruce Timm did nsfw art before, and no one is kink shaming him for it
Erotic art is a core foundation of the way we express ourselves as artists and it should never be discouraged.
I understand that you might be concerned of the stigma towards NSFW art, of which there is some capacity of, but if anything doing NSFW art will steer you in the direction of where that would be accepted if not cherished.
Adding a shout-out to the classic Archie comics artist who did stuff for playboy:
Who I guess set a precedent, because one of the artists working on Archie now, Gisèle Lagacé, runs the webcomic Eerie Cuties, which if you don’t know is packed with vaguely fetishy stuff:
ALSO another shout-out to one of my illustration professors who just straight-up told us that porn is a great way of getting into the industry.
